Welcome to Swansboro Country!

 

                                   
What is Swansboro? Where is Swansboro?


We are a planned community of custom built homes about
eight miles NE of Placerville California on Highway 50 and sixty miles west of Lake Tahoe’s South Shore. There are about 400 homes on minimum two acre lots just over the south fork of the American River.

At 2500 feet elevation, we are above the fog and below the snow (usually).


Our community is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with established 
DC and R’s which can be viewed on the documentation page.


Our roads are paved with utilities in place and city water (pure Sierra snow melt) to most residences.

                                     So why would you want to live here?


If you’re a pilot, we have our own airstrip, which can be viewed, at our Pilot’s Association website, http://www.01cl.com/
 . Many of our permanent residents commute by plane to the Bay Area in 45 minutes or less.

If you grew up in the city or suburbs, you might enjoy the intense quiet of the
foothills. Our six  lakes for fishing (catch and release) and open common areas for hiking, sandy beach lakes for swimming, or the hour drive to wine tasting, golfing, skiing or camping, offers our residents many recreational options.

For a casual meal, visit the local Mosquito General Market and Deli which sits on the edge of Finnon Lake and serves delicious comfort food. You can play Frisbee golf around the lake after lunch.


The shortest route to Swansboro is on Mosquito Road, which crosses the river on the oldest suspension bridge in California. Or you may choose the scenic Rock Creek Road and its modern two lane concrete bridge.


The area is rich in history with gold mining and logging and home to one of the earliest and most productive lumber mills in California, which produced much of the lumber that built San Francisco.


We have a magical place up here in the middle of somewhere, but, if the sounds of traffic and sirens appeal to you, perhaps a more congested and noisy community would better fit your needs. We invite you to visit our scenic area.
